Question / Issue
How do I fix a 7038 Invalid record number error message when opening a quote in the Comparative Rater?

Answer / Solution

7038 - Invalid record number error message:

  1. Go to the Tools menu, select Advanced, then Reindex Databases:
    • You will be asked to have all other users exit the Comparative Rater, click OK to continue.
    • You will then see the Database Initialization Process run through each table in your quote file.
    • Once it has completed, you will be taken back to a blank screen.
  2. If you still receive the error message when attempting to open a quote, you will need to run the Certify Quote File:
    • Go to the Tools menu, select Quote Management, then Certify Quote File or click the file cabinet icon on the toolbar at the top of the screen and select Certify Quote File.
    • You will be asked to have all other users exit the Comparative Rater, click OK to continue.
    • You will see a series of boxes scanning through each database table.
    • Once the process is done scanning you will get a message that the Quote file certification is complete.
    • If the program has found any corrupt quotes, it will let you know that is has and will delete those it could not repair.  It will also recommend that you restore from a backup.  You will need to make that decision based on the date of your last backup.
