Question / Issue
How do I merge a quote file from a stand alone machine into my networked copy of the Comparative Rater?

Answer / Solution

How to merge quote files:

  1. First you will need to copy the DATA folder (found in C:\ITC\XXCMP - XX is the state abbreviation) to a location on your network.
  2. Go to any machine on the network - make sure all other users have exited the Comparative Rater.
  3. Go to the Tools menu and select Quote Management, then Merge Quote Files or click the file cabinet icon on the toolbar (between the Options and computer update icons) and select Merge Quote Files.
  4. A Merge Quote Files box will appear.
  5. The Source Quote File Path is the location of the quote file that you want to merge into your main copy of the Comparative quotes.  You can use the Browse button to find the DATA folder.
  6. The Destination Quote File Path you won't need to change since the program defaults the path where you are currently running the program from.
  7. If you want to limit the merge by date, you can enter a Start Date and an End Date.
  8. Click on Merge.
  9. Once the Merge has completed, you will get an information box that will tell you:
    • Total records found in the source quote file
    • Number of records merged to destination quote file
    • Number of records that were duplicate and NOT merged
  10. 9)  Click OK to exit this information screen.
  11. 10)  Click on Done to exit the Merge Quote Files screen.

NOTE: If you have multiple stand alone machines with quote files and then become networked, you will need to go to each networked machine, access the networked copy of the Comparative Rater and use the steps above to merge in all quote files.
