Question / Issue
I am upgrading to the Web Edition of the Comparative Rater. How do I convert my Companies, Lienholders, Misc. Premiums, Lead Sources and Quote Descriptions from my local version to Web Edition?

Answer / Solution

NOTE:  In order to access the Web Edition Conversion utility, you must be signed in as an Administrator on the full version of the desktopTurboRater (not Netspawn).

Step 1.  Log in to the Desktop Comparative rater and click on the Web Edition Conversion button on the toolbar.

Step 2.  Once the Desktop to Web Edition Conversion screen opens you will need to identify categories to be uploaded:

  • Place a checkmark next to the categories that you want to import into Web Edition. Your options include:

    • Companies
    • Lienholders
    • Misc. Premiums
    • Quote Descriptions

Step 3. Select Companies to upload:

  • Click the Select Companies box.
  • Then click the box next to each company you wish to import.
    • To select all companies, click the Select/Unselect All under the company list box.
    • To shorten your selection list, you can specify to list only active companies by clicking on Active Companies Only at the top of the company list box.
      • Active Companies are companies that you are currently quoting. To determine what companies you have as active, go to the Edit menu and select Companies.  Those companies with a checkmark to the left of the company name are considered active.
  • The following information will be imported for each company selected:
    • Producer Code

    • Default Pay Plans

Step 4. Selecting Lienholders to upload:

  • Click the box next to Select Lienholders (removing the checkmark from this box would deselect all lienholders).
  • Then click the box next to each leinholder you wish to upload.
  • To select all lienholders, click the Select/Unselect All box beneath the lienholders list box.
  • The following information will be import for each lienholder (loss payee) selected:
    • Loss Payee Type (Lease, Loan)

  • Then click the box next to each Misc. Premium you wish to upload.
  • To select all Misc. Premiums, click the Select/Unselect All box beneath the Misc. Premiums list box.
  • The following information will be import for each Misc. Premium selected:
    • Premium Description
    • Premium Amount
    • Calculation Method (fee applied down payment or policy (financed))
    • Applied to: (Policy, Driver, Vehicle, or % based on total premium)

Step 8. Start the Conversion:

  • In the event your information did not import successfully and you receive a Failure for any one or all of the categories you selected, we recommend repeating the above steps.

Converting Multiple Databases and/or Locations:

NOTE: The Web Edition Conversion Utility must be run for each separate database.

 Companies:

  • To keep Company Groups separate by location, you will first need to rename the initial location's company group created in Web Edition.  To do so:
    • Login to Web Edition
    • Go to the Administration menu and select List Company Groups.
    • Click the Edit button next to Conversion Company Group.
    • Rename the Company Group Name to identify the first location.
    • Be sure the name is something other than Conversion Company Group.
    • Once you have done this, you will need to sign into a computer that can access the additional second database and repeat the steps 1-8 above at the beginning of this document.
    • Repeat this section for each additional location.

Leinholders:

  • Lienholders will be combined and all users will have access to the entire lienholder list.  In the event the same lienholder is imported, the following rules will apply:
    • If the name, address, and phone number is the same, the original lienolder information will be overwritten, therefore, leaving only one entry for the lienholder.
    • If the subsequent lienholder addresses or phone numbers differ from the initial one, a second copy will be created and will be indicated by including a number after the name.

Example:

Misc Premiums:

  • Misc. Premiums will be combined and all users will have access to the entire Misc. Premium list.  In the event the same Misc. Premium is imported, the following rules will apply:
    • If the name description and detail selections are the same, the original Misc. Premium information will be overwritten, therefore, leaving only one entry for the Misc. Premium.
    • If the subsequent Misc. Premium details differ from the initial one with the same name, a second copy will be created and will be indicated by including a number after the name.

Example:

Lead Sources:
