What to look for when InsurancePro won't start

Question / Issue
InsurancePro does not start

Answer / Solution

If your PC shut down unexpectedly and now Insurance Won't start please follow these instructions:

  1. Go to - C:\Users\[Default PC User]\AppData\Local.
  2. Delete the ITC Folder.
  3. Relaunch Insurance Pro.
  4. Click on Connect to My Database.
  5. Enter the ITC Account number that you were sent in the Install Email.
  6. Enter the Unique ID that was in the same email.  Copy and Paste is highly recommended.
  7. Insurance Pro should then launch and you will be connected to your database.

 

Other Things to Check When InsurancePro Will Not Start

 

 

  • Language and regional settings are set to English/United States
    • Recommendation - Set the language and any regional settings to English and United States
  • Latest service packs installed for operating system (Windows 7, 8 and 10)
    • Recommendation - Update to latest service pack for the operating system
  • Latest service packs installed for .NET (.NET 2.0 SP2, .NET 3.5 SP1, .NET 4.5)
    • Recommendation - Update to latest service pack for the .NET Framework
  • Permissions
    • Recommendation - Test to see if giving the user admin rights will allow InsurancePro to run
  • Check if the UAC is enabled for Windows 7 installations.
  • Recommendation - Attempt to start InsurancePro after turning off UAC.  Click here for instructions on modifying the state of the UAC.
  • Configuration file from the login profile
    • Paths
      • XP
        • %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\ITC\InsurancePro
        • %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\InsurancePro
      • Vista/7
        • %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\InsurancePro
        • %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\ITC\InsurancePro
    • Recommendation - Close InsurancePro, delete this directory, and open InsurancePro. May need to reconfigure InsurancePro.
  • Anti-virus
    • Recommendation - Exclude the InsurancePro installation directory/application from anti-virus checks
  • Proxy settings for Internet Explorer
    • Recommendation - Remove proxy settings from Internet Explorer or set the proxy settings in Internet Explorer to the recommended proxy setup by your IT staff
  • Scanned signatures corruption - log message indicates an error adding a duplicate key to a collection
    • Recommendation - escalate to next level of support
  • Hosts file is corrupted typically found at
    • %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\
      • Recommendation - Have IT department of agency verify that the hosts file is clean. If this file is not clean, it most likely indicates a virus is present on the computer.
      • More information on the host file is here.  The agency is responsible for the contents of this file.
  • Firewalls (software or hardware)
    • Recommendation - Ports 80, 1855, 443, 21, and appropriate email ports should be allowed. InsurancePro should be considered a safe application by any installed firewall software applications.
    • Recommendation - Endpoints that require access are as follows
      • FTP: ipftp.itcdataservices.com / 63.241.231.33
      • Database (please use the name of the server when possible):
        • IPA1: ipstorage.itcdataservices.com / 69.93.203.238
        • IPA3: ipstorage3.itcdataservices.com / 69.93.203.233
        • IPA4: ipstorage4.itcdataservices.com / 69.93.203.249
  • .NET Framework is corrupt
    • Recommendation - Repair .NET Framework if not recently installed
  •  
  • Current date/time setting of the operating system
    • Recommendation - Set the date/time of the operating system to the current date and time

  •   If you get "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." delete the InsuracePro.exe.config and run installer again.
