More Information/Frequently Asked Questions

What is ITC's Internet Speed/Bandwidth Test?
ITC's Internet Speed/Bandwidth test measures the information-carrying capacity, or bandwidth, between your computer and our server located in Allen, Texas. Using this test will give you an idea how various ITC products will perform that depend on your internet connection speed. For example, if you are using InsurancePro Online Storage, and your Internet Speed is less than what is recommended, you may notice lengthy delays while using the program.

What does this utility do?
Once the test is executed, the utility will download a file to your computer. The amount of time it takes for that file to be completely downloaded will be reported to our servers. Then the utility will upload the file from your computer to our servers, and track the time it took to transfer the file. The results of your test will be displayed, and you will also be given an idea where your connection stands compared to various types of Internet Connections, from dial-up to DSL and cable access.

Why do I want to use this test/Utility?
Knowing your Internet speed is important, especially if you are using one of ITC's Online Products. This utility might help explain and troubleshoot speed related problems that you might experience.

According to the test, I have a very slow Internet Connection. What should I do?
If the test result shows that you have a slow Internet Connection which is not recommended to use ITC Products, please contact your Internet Service Provider to upgrade your Internet Connection.

What can affect the Test results?
The bandwidth rate between our server and your computer could be affected by many factors. Some of the most common are:

  • Being outside of the United States or far away from the location of our server.

  • Performing other downloads at the same time that this test is executed.

  • Executing other programs that use your bandwidth to monitor resources while this test is being executed.

  • The quality of your line speed. In some cases users may find noise, which is caused by electromagnetic energy that degrades the quality of signals in hard-wired circuits (that is, telephone lines), thereby limiting the throughput to the computer.
